S/he Is Still Her/e: The Official Genesis P-Orridge Documentary

As part of our residency "Die Schlafkranken" at Fleetstreet Theater, in collaboration with the Hamburg International Queer Film Festival, we are looking forward to screening in Hamburg "S/he Is Still Her/e: The Official Genesis P-Orridge Documentary" (2024), directed by David Charles Rodrigues

Genesis P-Orridge was a performance artist, shaman, musician, and the lead singer of Throbbing Gristle and Psychic TV, as well as one of the most influential and controversial figures in the industrial music and performance art scenes.

Known for their transgressive performances, ritualistic experiments, and uncompromising rejection of social norms, Genesis challenged the boundaries of gender identity, art, and music. Together with their partner Lady Jaye, they developed the radical Pandrogyny Experiment—a pioneering attempt to redesigning one’s entity beyond fixed binaries and definitions, transcending individual identity and conventional notions of gender and couplehood.

Based on a series of interviews conducted by Rodrigues during the last months of their life, „S/he Is Still Her/e“ explores Genesis P-Orridge’s captivating, queer, and relentless journey through performance, music, gender, love, and self-transformation.
